I am a practicing licensed professional and consulting engineer with expertise in the design and construction of wood structures. I also design reinforced concrete structures and elements, structural steel, reinforced concrete and segmental block retaining walls, and other structural building elements and systems. I have extensive design, consulting, and teaching (University setting) experience. I have also practiced demolition engineering and mountain stream hydrology, and have served as an expert witness on building construction and hydrology cases. I have extensive experience in building code and standards writing, revisions and approvals, as well as building product acceptance criteria and building product evaluations. I participate in a number of wood and wood-design-related organizations (e.g., American Wood Council Wood Design Standards Committee, ASTM Committee D07, American Institute of Timber Construction / Pacific Lumber Inspection Bureau).  I also build wood structures myself.

Currently I am providing consulting services to manufacturers of new, innovative building products … of which, for obvious reasons, I will not provide details.
